BRITAIN’S BIGGEST BREAKFAST GOES ON THE MENU
AT WARWICK CASTLE
To celebrate Christmas Warwick Castle is serving up Britain’s BIGGEST breakfast in the form of a mammoth 12 course Victorian breakfast banquet made from over 300 ingredients and containing nearly 4000 calories. The exclusive meal, which will be served in the suitably grand surroundings of the castle, will cost £80 a head.
The sumptuous super sized meal is the type of fare that would have been served at the Castle during its Victorian hey-day and is inspired by a menu originally created for Queen Victoria. Guests will wash down the vast array of food - including game, scotch woodcock, creamed smoked haddock, bacon and eggs and jelly - with champagne and fine wines.
“This Christmas we are celebrating all things Victorian”, explains Warwick Castle General Manager, Sue Kemp. “The Countess at that time was an eccentric and flamboyant character and her celebrations would have been opulent, colourful and BIG in every way. We wanted to give the public a chance to have a small taste of that bygone world and what better way to do it than through the magnificent food they would have eaten?”
The exclusive meal has been created by new cooks on the block, culinary whiz kids Harry Parr and Sam Bompas. “Our menu is certainly not the typical breakfast most Victorians would have started the day with,” says Harry Parr. “But guests to Warwick Castle at that time would certainly have enjoyed these kind of lavish meals and fish, game and even jellies at breakfast would not have been unusual. We’re aiming to create a totally unique piece of culinary theatre with amazing food in amazing surroundings; it will definitely be a meal to remember.”
This exclusive and unique breakfast banquet will be held at 9am on Friday December 14th and places are strictly limited. Tickets are priced at £80 each and include entry to the castle to enjoy all of the Victorian festivities on offer including a steam fair and the UK’s first real ice trail. Places can be booked by calling 01926 406603*.
* Full payment will be required to secure a place.
