WARWICK CASTLE KNIGHTS ADD WEIGHT TO SPORTS RELIEF
- by going the distance in full armour!

Warwick Castle Knights Rich Hall and Rich Shacklock are planning to add weight to their Sport Relief miles by running the distance in full suits of armour. To be precise their knightly regalia will add around 45kg of weight on the one mile run on 16th March - that’s the equivalent of carting around 45 bags of sugar or carrying three four year olds as they cover the distance.

“We are determined to raise as much money as possible and thought making it extra challenging would make people dig deeper,” says Rich.  “We are used to wearing this weight of armour for combat displays but running a full mile in full kit will be something of a full-on task; mediaeval knights would certainly have had to move quickly in armour during battles, but it isn’t really designed for this kind of running.  We’ve been practising in the castle grounds and are ready for the challenge.”  Both Knights are hoping to raise as much as they can and inspire others on the mile.
